47.594626 -117.577189I have used Whisper Oak kennels as well as Dan Hosford training for nearly 15 years now, with numerous dogs and have always been delighted with the care and service. Not only do I inspect facilities to where I am entrusting the life and care of my "family members", but I trust my animals to give me an indication as well. My dogs have never been reluctant to stay there and in fact one dog rushes in, she is so excited to stay there! In the past I have used other kennels and when the dogs came home, they experienced nightmares for several nights. That has never happened when using this kennel. I am out there frequently and have never seen any issue with feces or soiled areas. We train out there weekly. They have numerous exercise areas and you can request the type and frequency of exercise - whether with other dogs or alone. I highly recommend this kennel to all my family and friends.
I have had the opportunity to use the
services offered by Whisper Oak many times over the past several years. These would include grooming (which can be a challenge as my dogs are larger, one about 80LBS and the other about 100LBS and very active), also boarding for up to 3 weeks at a time. They were always healthy, in good spirits and clean when they were picked up and they were always happy to see Janette when they were dropped off. I have always found them to be professional and very helpful and even though there has been times I have been there when things were very busy and hectic, I have always noticed that they take the time necessary to work with each individuals needs and seem to stay upbeat and friendly. I have recommended them to several people and have never heard anything negative about the service or care they received. Whenever the need arises I will continue to use there services.

I have used Whisper Oak Pet Resort over many years for the special care of my very expensive hunting dogs. My dogs are my children and I have used other boarding facilities in the past and received my pets in less than excellent condition. In fact one of my beloved golden retrievers passed away after being boarded at a different location. I trust Janette and Dan with my animals more than I do most of my family members. In fact, it was the staff at Whisper Oak that noticed my female golden had some swelling around her chin. They called me immediately to authorize a vet visit. There the vet discovered an issue that my hometown vet did not see. If it was not for their careful watch over my girl she would likely be dead. Thank you Whisper Oak for your many years of caring for my "kids" I highly recommend this facility for either short term care or for the long term.
My good friend USED to board her dogs
at Whisper Oak. After an extended stay at Whisper Oak, less than 48 hours after picking up her dogs, one of her dogs was dead. She recalls that both dogs were unusually stressed when she picked them up. Upon getting them home, they ate and drank like they had not received even the basic of care. Before she could get help, he had died from bloat (that is when a dogs stomach twists, often caused by over drinking or eating) according to her vet. Her vet asked about the surrounding circumstances and was in shock since the dog was previously healthy.
Dehydration? Starvation? Coincidence? Neglect?
She didn't know who to call and is heart broken to this day by her loss. Her dogs are her family. She entrusted and PAID for her dogs to be cared for, which appears to be not the case.
I wouldn't take my pets there and risk their lives.
It appears that other customers are no long happy either.

I am the owner of Whisper Oak, we have had some difficulty with rescue organizations spreading lies about our business, even to the point of formal complaint with SCRAPS, so today SCRAPS made a surprise inspection, all stemming from a dog that we REFUSED to turn over to a rescue organization because we knew it was a biter, and they wanted to REHOME it!!! Because we refuse to turn it over, they got upset. Officer Faylor looked everywhere in and around our kennel and even my personal chicken coop and found NOTHING that gave him ANY reason to believe these lies were true. He said it looked terrific! So please before you believe any lies come in and see for yourself, I am in no way saying that there may be a person or two that did not like our facility, and in some cases, any problems that have arisen with a dog may not necessarily be something that we did wrong but stress that a pet may have upon boarding which happens occasionally.
Whisper Oak is a HELL HOLE for dogs, BEWARE!!!!. If you love your dog you WILL NOT take them to the hellish dog kennels known as whisper oak. The owners do not care about the animals at all and they do not know how to and just don't care to take care of the dogs properly. PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE!!!! In the winter, when I took a "tour" consisting of them only letting me peek through the door, it was freezing in there and I saw a thermometer and it ONLY read 45 degrees. HELL HOLE!!!!! It was dark, no ventilation and the smell was horrid!! I had to pick at least one star to post this but if I had it my way, it would be negative 500 million stars.
Beware. I have boarded my dog there on several occasions last fall and I was told my girl would be let out and exercised twice a day. After the last time she was boarded there, I found out she had a bladder infection (a nasty one that she had for quite awile) most likely caused from not being let out to go to the bathroom and trying to hold it in the kennel run. I will not go back. You get what you pay for and my vet bill was proof in the pocket book.
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
I can't believe I have to select a star to post this review. Honestly, in good conscience I can't even give this "HOLE" one star for a rating. It started in the parking lot....right in front of the building there was dog feces that I almost stepped in. Opening the door to the kennel office I was almost knocked down by the horrible smell, once inside it is dirty, dusty, and it doesn't look like someone has cleaned up front in at least a year. SO, if they can't bother to clean the front office IMAGINE what the dogs and cats are staying in.
If you thought the office smelled bad then know that the kennel was 10x's worse! There were dead mice in the kennel area - not on traps, more than likely killed with toxic poisons that IF one of the animals were to chew on these poisoned mice the dogs/cats would suffer a horrible and painful death. These mice were visible to me and accessible to animals that should be taken out for potty breaks (TWICE A DAY at the very least) .
I didn't feel any heat in there, the kennels were filthy, no animal had bedding (no kennel pallets as stated on their website), nothing playing to calm the dogs (claims to be playing "in a dog's ear" to calm the animals), and then there are the dog runs...
Not only was there feces everywhere OUTSIDE the kennel before getting to the runs there were huge PILES of dog feces in the runs and feces everywhere...literally you could not take a step without stepping in feces!!!!
HORRID!!!!!!!!!! This place is HELL on Earth for animals - DO NOT BE FOOLED!!!! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!
No complaints.
I was nervous dropping my dogs at a 'kennel' since I have usually dropped them at a 'pet play campground'. I stopped by earlier in the week and checked the place out. Looked like your typical kennel, but otherwise looked clean and the other dogs looked ok.
The dogs were there from Saturday morning until Thursday morning. Upon arriving on Thursday morning, the dogs were definitely happy to see me, but whose wouldn't be. The dogs smelled like they had a bath the day before. I had asked for one of the dog's nails to be trimmed and they were. They didn't smell, have sores, or any other issues that I noticed.
I would definitely take my dogs back if I had to board them again. The price was $200 which included two dogs and recess time.
Whisper Oak Pet Resort. I boarded my 2 dogs with them for 3 weeks while I was at a military training school. I called once a week to check on them and was told they were doing fine and no problems. I pick them up and one of my dogs had a huge sore on each of his front legs near the paws at the joint. They didn't say anything to me about it and only said "oh yeah he was licking them" when I saw and asked about it. The sores were crusted with dirt and getting infected. It cost me $100 in vet bills to have my dog checked out, the medicine and supplies. I will never take my dogs there again and have been telling everyone I know, not to board their animals there.
